Evaluation Question 2: How effective was the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

For my ancillary task I created an Empire magazine and film poster to promote my trailer my two ancillary texts and my main product all work well together as they develop ideas which allows a realistic film to be created. My two print based texts, my magazine cover and poster both differ from each other. Firstly beginning with my magazine I decided to present only the Antagonist as I felt it'd be easier for the audience to focus on just one main character making her more memorable also it'd make the genre of my magazine more obvious rather than the whole cast, also if I had chosen the heroine to appear on the cover it would have looked incomplete without the actor.
For my poster I decided to use a weapon which was a knife with a hand holding it in a threatening manner wearing a latex glove with blood splattered everywhere, I decided not to show the actors face but only the hand holding the weapon as it creates a sense of originality and at the same time looks gruesomely dangerous to the audience, it evokes questions in the audience's mind as to what the film is about, and the weapon connotes many different ideas linked to the horror genre as well as looking deathly frightening at the same time. I have also differed the colour scheme in both but have followed a real media product for both ancillary texts as well as researched thoroughly in order to follow the conventions of horror. During my research I discovered that film posters usually have star ratings and comments, they also have credits added on to it and for film magazines there is always the title of the film for recognition as well as text on the film in order to appeal the audience.
